Sara & Max — A Love between London and Rome
Meeting Sara and Max in London for their pre-wedding session was the turning point. There was a particular energy, a charge that I rarely feel before a project. They wanted to celebrate their story starting from where it all began: the streets of London, their favorite places, stolen moments between laughter and conversation.
And I was simply charged with capturing all of it.
Urban storytelling: my natural language
Urban spaces, the color of the city, the spontaneity that emerges from real streets: here it’s where I feel truly free to tell a story. Following Sara and Max through London was like stepping into a conversation already in progress: nothing prepared, everything authentic.
The Tower Bridge behind them, their complicity as they walked with Big Ben in the background, the city’s sounds providing a natural soundtrack. Every frame felt real, felt like them.
The pre-wedding captured in London became the beating heart of the entire film. It wasn’t just a pre-wedding session, it was a visual narrative of their love, rooted in the place where it all began.
Rain, spontaneity, and moments you don’t forget
The day of the wedding arrived with rain. One of those gray London days, so to speak, even though it was in Rome. Yet this rain changed the tone of everything. Sara’s preparations had a quality of real cinema: conversations with bridesmaids, moments of good-natured panic, family gathered in the same space, charged with pure emotion.
Throughout the entire ceremony, I decided to alternate moments from the London pre-wedding with what was happening in real time. It was like letting two worlds dialogue: the vibrant streets of London and the intimacy of the ceremony. A bilingual ceremony, Italian and English, that perfectly captured who Sara and Max were: two people from two different worlds who had chosen to build one together.
Harmony in differences
What makes this film special is precisely this: the ability to hold together two spaces, two languages, two cities, two different sensibilities, and let them coexist without effort.
The sounds of London blend with the words of the Italian ceremony. Urban colors alternate with the most intimate moments of family. There’s no conflict in this difference, there’s completion.
When the creative process produces something unexpected
This project taught me that sometimes beauty comes precisely from the least controllable context. The rain, the spontaneity, the alternation between two worlds: these weren’t elements I could have planned. Yet they’re the elements that make this film alive, authentic, and as the recognition it’s received confirms, impossible to forget.
